An excellent opportunity is available to start a full time, four-year mentored apprenticeship in the trade of Avionics (Aircraft Maintenance), commencing in January 2020. In this role, you will be employed by WPC Group while being based at Esso's Longford Heliport facility. You will combine learning in the workplace with studying at a TAFE/RTO (Registered Training Organisation).   The Role: This apprenticeship opportunity will not only see you through to receiving a nationally recognised qualification (Diploma of Aero Skills), but it will also provide you with world class training, mentoring, industry leading skills and safety practices, and opportunity for variety and exposure to many aspects of the occupation. This Avionics Apprenticeship would be well suited to recent school leavers, particularly those with an interest in mechanics, electronics and IT. We also encourage those who are living in Longford and surrounding areas to apply.   You will be responsible for a range of duties which will include (but not limited to): Day to day operations of running medium sized helicopters, which transfer staff to off-shore platforms Scheduled maintenance of helicopters Heavy inspections and modifications of equipment Fault troubleshooting and repair of helicopters and related equipment   What we are looking for: Strong work ethic Punctual, efficient, honest and reliable Year 12 completion Genuine interest in mechanics, electronics or IT High attention to detail - Production of precise and accurate work is essential Proven ability to work in a safe manner Commitment to a 4 year apprenticeship Current Drivers License and own transport   Non-essential: Pre-Apprenticeship in Engineering, Automotive, Electrotechnology or similar Employment experience (ideally practical)   Benefits and Additional Information: While you are based at Esso worksites, WPC Group will provide you with a dedicated mentor (Apprentice Field Officer) to help support and guide you throughout your apprenticeship. Regular visits in the workplace and at TAFE will take place to ensure you are developing and learning to requirements, but also to have someone available whenever you have questions, challenges or just need to talk to someone. We will also coordinate the TAFE (study) component of your apprenticeship. In addition, you will receive initial and ongoing internal training to ensure your skills and knowledge are in line with the company’s, but also industry leading standards and requirements. You will earn an award wage as you learn your trade and become qualified. The role is a 9 day fortnight (76 hour fortnight), including a fortnightly rostered day off. All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is supplied throughout your apprenticeship tenure.
